Every human who has ever been in love
Has been hurt by it
At least once.

If anything else had been this dangerous
We would have cured it
Or tried to.

Ever since humans began to walk the Earth,
They felt love’s power
To bring pain.

This thing that’s hurt every person that’s felt it
Must keep us alive
In some way.

If it didn’t save, this trait would have died off
And vanished from man
Forever.

And yet, over the countless generations
We still fall in love
All the time.

Yes it hurts, just like it has and always will,
But it’s meant for us—
We must love.
