Sing a song that all folks know
Sing a song with soul, real slow
Sing songs of triumph and pain
Sing a song and feel the hard rain

Songs of life's injustices and wrongs
Songs of protests, wars, and gongs
Songs of love and life and peace
Songs of captivity's sweet release

Sing a song that all folks know
Sing a song with soul, real slow
Sing songs of triumph and pain
Sing a song and feel the hard rain

For folks like you and folks like me
For folks who need open eyes to see
For folks who feel a tortured soul
For folks whose lives are at a lull

Sing a song that all folks know
Sing a song with soul, real slow
Sing songs of triumph and pain
Sing a song and feel the hard rain
I miss your smile
I miss your face
It's been a while
I only have empty space

Can you please forgive me
Why don't you see
We were meant to be
You just have to trust me

Where are we now
You left me
I'm trying to figure out how
Was it me

They forgot to tell you it's not always easy,
that just because the ocean seems so
calm at night
doesn't mean it doesn't ache
for morning.
They forgot to tell you it takes time,
that weeks may feel like hours
and months may feel like years.
That it only grows deeper in patience
and stronger in absence.
They forgot to tell you it speaks louder
in silence than it ever could in words,
that it listens closer when my hands
talk to yours,
that it lives inside your bones,
and not inside your heart.
They forgot to tell you it makes you
weak at the knees,
and strong in the head.
That it can fill every broken crack,
and heal every open wound.
They forgot to tell you it will leave scars.
They forgot to tell you that you can
give it all away without ever having
it given back to you.
They forgot to tell you that is okay.
They forgot to tell you that memories
don't fade away.
They forgot to tell you that it hurts.
They forgot to tell you what it means.
I'm here to tell you that it's worth it.
I'm here to tell you that you're worth it.
The nights, they are
So long, and
The days so
Cold
My thoughts are a
Jumble, in this mess of
A head, darting
Back and forth, back and forth
Alternating between manic
Happiness and soul crushing
Depression as I sit on the
Bed where I last saw you
Walk away from me, away from me
Wondering why death seems
So tempting an escape and
Love seems so
Terrifying a fate

He opened his
He couldn't see anything
Even in the moonlight
Pitch black surrounded him
Was this darkness worth anything?

He slept
He awoke to blinding light
He'd been over-indulging the previous night
Surrounded by *****, smoking, late nights and the harlots
Normally these would all be sins
Yet to him this was normal
This was the only life he knew

Do you ever wake up
More exhausted than the night before?
As if your sweet dreams
Opened another worlds door?

No white rabbits here
This isn't Wonderland
You won't be young forever
For it isn't Neverland

Here the sandman drags his bag
Through the recesses of your mind
Covering up your childhood dreams
To forever be lost in time

Every crack every crevasse
No rest will be found
Nightmare or dream
Screams make no sound

So run, run, run as fast as you can
For in dreams you have no choice
When being chased down by the unknown
Like I said screams have no voice

Toss and turn and fight to awake
Your body will stay departed
In this dream or reality you're stuck
In a nightmare, vastly uncharted

Struggling to get through the underbrush
In the jungles of your dreams
Where your never sure what lays in the shadows
And nothing is as it seems

So again I ask, do you ever wake up
More exhausted than the night before?
As if your sweet dreams
Opened another worlds door?
Did this with Mike Hauser! Such a great poet.

You are gonna come
And he's so spunky
They get so big and black
Only during Thursdays
I think he has time
He goes in and out
Be gentler with the littler ones
[something in another language]
He goes "I love you, sugar"
That's so sweet
He goes in and out a lot
Oh yeah?
I heard that when I was a kid.
Wait till they hit ten.
I guess it depends
[indistinct chatter]
She was a little ****
[Clatter of keyboard keys]
"Chai?"
I got super excited.
Easily 20+ times.
Brothers ****.
