Medusa

Her hair was painfully black and strong enough to end wars with
Her eyes reminded men of the sea
Just as intimidating as intriguing
And she would sing her serenades to the moon
And they would break their necks just to stare at her
This goddess trapped on earth

Poor Medusa
All she wanted was to be loved

When you say
that you are nothing,
I fear for you.
When the words that leave your lips
are shrouded in darkness,
I fear for you.
When you look as though
you're about to cry,
I fear for you.
I love you,
and I don't want you to be lost, and
I fear for you.

I wish I were deaf
so that I could not hear
your heart breaking because of me

I wish I were blind
so that I could not see
the tears I have caused on your face

I wish I were dumb
so that I, oh wait,
I’ve already got that one covered

It’s raining dumb in my part of the world
and every cloud has my name on it
Puddles on fractured sidewalks
reflect saturated idiocy
As drops fall like bullets,
shot from fog induced accusations
Each one hitting the wrong target
because I am still here
and I am not hard to miss

I am the one on my knees

I write poetry
because my brain
controls my hands
and I have never
been able to
control it
