Septober
Ryan O'Leary Oct 2024
.             I can remember a
              day in September
                 when October
                 seemed so far
                        away
                But those who
                    forget will
                 always regret
                   because of
                   prices that
                  they’ve got
                       to pay.

All Shook Up

Israel is fcuked, they thought
Iran was still in last century.

But flakes in their snow dome
rose like frightened pigeons.

Then the dust settled and in
Tel Aviv they’re out of diapers.

.  We all remember, September eleven
Not just because, it rhymes with heaven
But the infidels, got a chance to taste
Of how it felt, to those, they’d laid waste.

A year today, silver clouds were laden
As history repeated, on October seven
When Al-Aqsa flew, o'er the Evil Ones
Earth wind and fire, and blazing guns.

.    I could go and deface a

I could go into a forest
     and speak to the trees

     I could tell a grapevine
or go and talk to the wall

I could go to a priest
      privacy of the confessional

     I could go to Alcoholics
     Anonymous and share

     But who you see here
     What you hear here

     When you leave here
Let it stay here, is pointless

     Because a wider audience
Needs to listen to my poem

     How else can I convey
     The plight of Palestinians?

A low branch of a willow
could hardly be accused
if eavesdropping on a
conversation between
the brook a bridge and
it’s banks. Heated at
times over an ancient
Droit de Passage which
according to the banks,
was no longer applicable
since the advent of the
free market economy
and privatisation. The
bridge was charging a
toll so why should your
water pass under the arch
without a levy, was the
banks argument. The
Brook said it was up to
thé bridge and not the
banks to demand a passage
