When you look through the pummeling rain,
you see her standing there.
Her polka-dot red dress soaking wet,
as is her hair.

But when you reach out for her,
she disappears.
Nothing scares more,
than what you fear.

The fear of losing everything,
losing her.
Like having the world there,
in the palm of your hand,
only to drop it in the sewer.

And the grate is just to thin for you to reach in.

here come muddy landslides
rushing down, demanding spectacles
be viewed through lens: wide
stricken by euphoria revealing
a mountainscape: your gum line
destroying homes built hillside

this is quality, the feeling worth the feel
this is beautiful even after enamel peels
this is what i want to take me, crushing quantities
whole?

Abandoned so long ago !!

In the long time

Seen thru the sights of
THE LONG RIFLE

••

( falling in love )

••

Wanders no roads

Seeks no truth

••

Hopeless
--

I see the Darkness eat you

( dead bug )

Emerging (?)

I see something
I hope it's you

Where once was light
Now darkness fills.
Where your presence was,
Emptiness consumes.
Where once was love,
Now hate shines through.

This bed feels more lonely tonight.
The shadows cast from the tv light show one less figure.
Words are spoken to darkness instead of to you.
And I'm alone once more.

We
I see your face and it shows your grace to me
And there is no one, that I'd rather see
'Cause I've been waiting for you now
To show me how
We can fly together, through all time
You came from nowhere, you were so hard to find
You mean the world to me, leavin' all others behind
There is no one that can be
Like I am for you and you are for me.
And we can fly together, through all time
We're just beginning, to see what's right
Walk with me for always, heading towards the light
We've been waiting for this forever
To walk down life's road hand in hand together
And we can fly together, through all time
Yes, we will fly together, through all time.

My friends parents can be pretty romantic. His dad wrote this for his mom back in 1989 and these words are still framed in their house today.

There is a butterfly inside me.
I am a jar.
Gossamer wings broken and singed
I magnify the sun
And burn her
Fragile, feeble flutter
All the beauty that could be
Glass is merciless
I am a jar.
There is a butterfly inside me.

if you've ever done
3 sets of lat pulldowns
your hands cramp up
by the end and are freckled
red. You flex them awkwardly,
all ten fingers bent into little
claws around the bar, and the
skin feels tight as if you were
slipping your bones into a glove
too small.

but it doesn't last long.

but it doesn't last long.

I've pried every finger
from the tail-end of your
shirt, but my eyes are the
only thing left. To be sure,
hands aren't the only thing
that can grip, that can hold on.

Imagine, if you will,
an empty stretch
of carroty sand
and me and you
skedaddling up
to the waves as they unfurl out to us,
slide back in
like a dog’s tongue in heat
or two lovers’ lips
to say hello, farewell,
then hello again.

Imagine, if you will,
the two of us
on the beach
as the sun
dribbles down
like raindrops on a window,
afternoon into night
and our toes meshed together,
and our hands pressed together,
and our bodies together,
so close I can count
every time
your heart pounds,
beats with ecstasy.

Imagine, if you will,
what this is like
in a dream,
what it would be like
if you blinked
     and the scene
became real,
if you turned your head
and knew my eyes,
if I turned my head
and couldn’t take my eyes
away.
