I wait patiently beside the door
I heard the engine running outside
When will she knock?
There is no knock

I make myself a drink
It occupies my mind for a moment

I think I hear something
Could have been her car door
I head toward the front
Still no knock

I unlock the door
Lay down to wait on the couch
Perhaps if I drift off
She'll join me sweetly as I rest
