Don't ask me where or why this is so

It's just been that way since the day I was born

Somewhere back when the sour mash flowed

But we won't let it lie till we get what we're owed

Cause something ain't right and that's all I know

What we are owed comes with a poisonous bite

For those lawless law men hiding behind badges of lies

The way that they deal from the devils right side

It's tooth for a tooth with an eye for an eye

There's no other way to bring it to light

They've done nothing but wrong since they come along

With the busting of Stills in the morals they've strung

But in the Tennessee hills it's the way that we live

Where we give what they take and we take what they give

We've had more than enough of all of their...

Not sure why or when they considered it sin

What's been passed all these years down from kin to kin

They don't seem to like us and we like them even less

So I'll tell you now boys stay on your side of the fence

That's where we're at today and have been ever since

Trouble they'll get if that's what they've come looking for

We've had more than enough and won't take anymore

The one who will win has the strongest of wills

Out in the back wood with our Tennessee Still

Yes out in the back wood with our Tennessee Still
