A man once cast a precious stone into the ocean And it sunk to the bottom For many years it lay alone and forgotten, buried in a bank of sand Its beautiful features lay there unseen, and one would think its beauty might vanish And in total isolation, the precious stone grew bitter With no one to talk to and no one to admire it It withheld love, happiness, and understanding.
But one day, and quite unexpectedly A child scooped up the precious stone and marveled at it with wonder Her soft, warm palms soothing to the stone who had known nothing but rough, coarse sand against its shimmer The precious stone was set in a box with soft silk to lull it, not the cold, forgotten sand The child's eyes, full of admiration, marveled all the more And the brooding this precious stone had harbored began to depart For it was no longer lonely.
