Watching as your feelings grow
Your inner wall comes down so slow
Always wary of past pain
You reach and dare to feel again
Things so different from your past
So hard to believe that it will last
Not searching now just to be held
Scared now as our feelings meld
Hurt and used so much before
So many times upon that floor
Made a plaything they did use
Your feeling they did just abuse
So long needing to survive
At arms distance just to stay alive
Never thinking you might find
One who cares someone so kind
Through with running now away
Knowing in your heart you’ll stay
You know I care not of your past
I’ll hold you gently we can last
As you find your life anew
I’ll care for you like very few
Give you space the time you need
To be there as you struggle free
