Jun 2014
everywhere around the world
the blue of my skirt
touches shores
container ships
sail o'er me in the night
stars twinkling on their bows
whales and fishes
live in my fathom's depths
kelp's and beautiful corals
make homes
in the salt of my brine
yet I'm assailed
by the unthinking
slicks from oil spills
choking my environs
plastic bags and human effluent galore
deposited in my turquoise colored prettiness
the oceans on our planet
need our care
so please treat them
as a precious jewel
8/06/2014 is World Oceans Day.
