You know what they always say
About the perfect family
But lock the door behind you
And throw away the key
Things ain't always perfect
Nor quite the way they seem
Need I here remind you
Of the perfect family

the secret closets
their rooms hold
brittle broken
bones of old
skeletons hide
with haunted eyes
their voices sound
of children's cries
the day is dark
the day is done
the hurt inside
blocks out the sun
this is all
they know of love
feel the weight
of its heavy crush

With a need to bury deep
The ugly that's been found
Under decaying leaves
In the cold damp ground
Until it is the screams
No longer make a sound
Things aren't always what they seem
When no one is around
