Sitting by the campfire
singing song's that we all know
past glories half remembered
yet still funny when they're told
reflections of the scenery
open the eyelids of my soul
I've found life is like this
it's how you handle the load

Every once in  a while
I get to thinking
what's became of you
Every once in a while
I start smiling
I remember you

I still see you smiling
standing together on the porch
dancing to that song about fishing
and what to do in the dark
precious times fondly remembered
sometime before the fall
to travel back there someday
how do you climb a sheer wall

Every once in a while
I get to thinking
what's be came of you
Every once in a while
I start smiling
when I remember you

What is in a lesson
a pearl of wisdom for us all
heartache comes to many times
stripped and bled for all
castle's built of day dreams
crumble and they fall
I've found life is like this
catch me if I fall

Every once in a while
I start to thinking
what became of you
Every once in a while
I start crying
as I remember you

Sitting round the campfire
my stories have been told
glowing embers bring warmth
give you comfort from the cold
I'll get in my car now
maybe head out for the coast
I've found life is like this
it's how you travel your road

Every once in a while
I start to thinking
what became of you
Every once in a while
I start smiling
as I remember you
