Subsistent living
All lonesome and free
No one to rely on but me

Chipping the ice
Shoveling my way out
No one to hear me shout

Subsistent living
In the middle of civilization
Dependent upon myself is the realization

Growing the trees
Making a mountain of snow
Blocking out everyone I know

Subsistent living
I choose to rely on only me
Because my soul must remain independent and free
