I sent a letter to Santa making a request
that he put in my stocking a purple vest
my old one has become a little thread bear
and is showing all the signs of wear

on Christmas eve night I shall sleep sound
for I know Santa will be calling around
he'll deposit the purple vest in my stocking
which on Christmas morn shall have me caroling
