I wake up to the sun rising
At early mornings light
To the sounds of nature
A new day in my sight
I contemplate the day’s events
Playing it over in my mind
The ins, and outs, and obstacles
Of the daily grind
I break my fast with berries
Gathered from the vine
Then I feed the horses, the chickens, and the swine
Last, I wake the children
Sleeping in their beds
Prepare them for another day
And their journey up ahead
