i sit on a pastel couch
with cabernet stained lips
looking at
black and white photographs
of women
who marched
who spoke
who cried
who fought
for me to live in color

colors they never got to see
every time i think about
susan b. anthony
living to 86 years old
and dying just 14 years
before women got
the right to vote...

the right she dedicated
her life to fighting for...

it harrows me
