Poems
Aug 2020
some years are longer than others
she asked to be buried in lingerie
and they did it for her, bathed in flowers
and told the children
before they came
crying, she balled up the letter
set it on fire
watched it burn on her bedroom floor
"you can take anything from me,
i'm over."
but she lied:
it was a year before she died,
and she hadn't given up.
