What could I've ever asked for?

As I laid naked in the scorching sun,
Burning flesh with agony,
Pain to ablaze strongest cords
Deciphering which hurts most
Was its eyes?
Or ears?
Was it skin?
Or was it the throat?

What could I've ever asked for?
Lying in screeching silences,
Whispering darkness,
Looking at the light,
Craving for illumination
Will it ever reach me?

What could I've ever asked for?
As I hear the rumbling crowd,
Through the windows,
Voice enunciating,
The actual voice,
I wanted to hear

What could I've ever asked for?
As I stood there,
Speaking the truth,
Amidst the empty benches
Only to be heard by the walls.

Tell me what could I've ever asked for???
Maybe it's just simple things we all ask for.
A little piece of you,
With a big piece of me,
Vulnerable yet strong,
Depending on true hearts,
To listen,
To speak,
To build,
Scattering pieces,
Into imperishable we.
