In days to come
much of one's life
will be stripped away
while the new will thrive

in the healing
of hurts and wounds--many-
as the old self dies
with a strong grip on reality

the peeling off and rejection
of fancy and insecurity
lessons learnt and the heart hardened
shackles smashed and one is set free

in days to come
what would I be?
neither a hero or coward
my burden shed totally!
