Secrets of the heart
recent or old
wounds that wouldn't heal
never to be told-

secrets of the heart
not even the dearest would know
love takes many a role
in joy or sorrow-

secrets of the heart
hidden in chambers only too cold
won't melt ever in the strongest heat
not a word would they unfold-

secrets of the heart
as on my dying bed I lie
they will be buried with me
none need ask: Why?
