You do not fear the trees
You fear the forest in the dark
The rustle of leaves you did not make
The wind in your ears you did not fake
You breath smoking against the crispness of the air
Cold existence, creeping into your lungs
Fingers not yet numb
Clutching at sanity
As it slips into the dark
