between Lazarus

hearing his name

to life--and holy men

washing their faces

with ash.

the river folds as it

flows, wider than the

world--narrower than

a needle.

what births the vow of

silence, as it sings the song

of ash thru the deafening

motions of images.

a kiss upon the forehead

and crown, roosting birds.
