Even He

knew the power of their love
and in His wisdom
stood aside

He left the man--
alone

to say it--
His fury
His sorrow
His fear of death
His grief-- and utter despair!

But beyond all else--
to tell--

His love

His desire
to restore her

The man saw her face
and could not leave her there

So

he gathered her
with tears and tender kisses
bound her with the stars of love
that fueled the fires within him
smothering her cries
with weight
of anger and desire

He took from her--
ate from her

...And fell to death as well
