How many of you
Have been told
That you walk
And act
Like another
That isn't you?

How many of you
Have been told
That the way you smile
Makes them reminisce
About an era
That you're sure
You have never taken part in?

How many of you
Have been stopped
Only to see their anguish
That you aren't
Who they thought you were?

How many of you
Have actually started to believe
That you are the one
They think and talk about?
. . .
How long will I be called your name ? Tell me!
How long will I have to bare your scars and burdens? Tell me!
How long will I have to tell people that I am not you? Tell me!
And watch their crestfallen faces
In places I've never been

Will the sun rise
and push you aside
So that I may shine one day?
Maybe

But this cycle never ends
And I brace myself
Everyday
To be called you
Yet again
