always biting off more than you
can chew
knowing well each time
that you would
choke

like roadkill
you scavenge from me

tearing at my insides
ripping me apart
bit by bit
piece by piece

until all that is left
is a barren carcass
that used to be
me

you mutilate me
time and time again

but no more.

you’ve stolen far too much of me to feed yourself,

scavenger
why did you do this to me
