To my one of my dearest friends:
you say you are nothing more
than a supporting character
and to that I am astounded
your character and joy
lifts everyone around you
much, much more than you’ll ever know
your quiet, intelligible demeanor
sparks thought and mystery
and so I hope one day
someone comes along
and sees you as beautifully as I do
so they can paint a picture of you for you
so maybe then you’ll see
you were never, ever destined to be
a supporting character,
but someone’s entire novel
and entire life
your existence
is beautiful and no mistake,
so please my friend
never take away credit from yourself
