I was glued to the T.V
As a child.
No, I was not watching cartoons
I was watching the weather
And hoping for the magic announcement.
They kept talking about people getting caught in the snow.
And the snowplows in the snow
I wanted to hear that schools were canceled because of the snow.
Then a man came on the television
Maybe he would announce my deliverance.
New York schools are….
I held my breath
Open.
Oh no.
I did not do my homework
Because I thought there would be a snow day.
Now I have to do it on the bus.
Its hard to do math problems
With the bus trying to navigate the snow.
They say I can play with the snow at school
I reply that it is better to play in the snow at home.
They don’t seem to understand my sudden concern
So I put on my jacket and go outside
A snow day has been denied to me
And the man on television now owes me.
