What are we asking of ourselves now
Only equality if death must decide for us
We don't know what discomfort will produce
Street fighting or words without seeing eyes
Demands for peace only start another war
At the moment we become politicized
Our minds close and truth is abandoned
What we believe is what comforts us most
Even if hatred is our elixir and love our lie
But as our children discover the morning light
They will know that even darkness must sleep
And the changing of the guard will become love
