A ghost visited me in October
when moon was full
and birds were shadows
in the night.

It came blending in
with the Halloween festivities,
but I knew better.

It was an old flame,
that did me wrong.
That took my heart
and cut it to shreds
One who tried
to whisper
asking for forgiveness,
inside the wind.

I granted him such,
as I had moved on
finding the power of my heart.
I granted him a pardon,
as I bowed
wishing him peace.

Once received,
he gave a solemn smile,
and instantly disappeared
never to be seen again.
