I was once a variance
annoyed by touch
a loner  the only one
I got a dog by chance
then two cats
that turned into three
and noticed
how touch was a necessity
my dog searched my hand out to
stroke her ears her head her neck
the three cats would not leave me alone rubbing and purring
I saw them arch their backs
and the dog smiled I think
with every touch
something changed
in my philosophy
by fur and eyes and loneliness
became a  daily ritual
of purring panting happiness
and so
I think
they tamed me
