If I climbed a mountain
But turned back before dawn
If I climbed a mountain
But it was the wrong one
Would it mean I didn’t try hard enough?

I had a doctor give me some bad news
But it wasn’t as sad as when I made you mad
Then there was a traffic jam the other day
Something about a stalled Ford and a light gone bad
And all I can do is talk about something I once had

If I told you that I know you
But ordered the wrong drink
If I told you that I know you
But don’t know what to think
Would it mean I didn’t listen to you enough?

There’s a door next to some peeling paint
The hinges know the glory and the most of the story
We don’t know how to understand the right language
We say the wrong things when love gets too gory
But the worst part is it took this long to say I’m sorry
