i drove myself home
it feels more like home every time i come here
the duck on the gravel river bed
shaking off its water

silt has retired the old place
higher every time I open the cabin
I didn't forget to bring the beers
how many miles can compare
to the connection this nature
a creek
a sanctuary
far from wild
just wild
as little kids ever could
just stagger into the woods.
