(20 minute poetry)

There's a smell of embrocation that followed me into the tube train from the station
'I think she's wearing Wintergreen'

which is not an advertising slogan that I've ever heard.

It's different from the usual,
that usually reminds me of dust and
drains and nineteen twenty three,
It might catch on, become a trend
whee
where will it end?

But the tube is just a truss
put in place
reminding us
that we're held in
("..formulated on a pin")

Each station is our medication
take two spoonfuls twice a day.

Going my way?
I used to be
along with nineteen
twenty three
but that's all done and
dusted
chassis shot
pipes are busted

I trusted in some higher power
ended in a shower of ****

'stupid ***',
some would say,
'he's had his day
put him out to grass'

It'll pass
most things do
except the smell of
you
and Wintergreen.
