the law let her out on parole's release
without considering who she'd decease
offenses committed deserved more time
they were so appalling of indictable crime

she took her infant son and ducked his head
under the river's muddy place of the dead
an evil something possessed mummy's mind
drowning the innocent child was so unkind

jurisprudence proved to be very slack
justice could not bring the young boy back
a terrible tragedy may have been stalled
had the mother's term in gaol remained walled

the legal system doesn't work too well
it should of thrown away the key to her cell
