The hardest part
About making a mistake
Is the forgiveness
That it takes to get past it

Trying to forgive others
Comes easy, with time

Forgiving yourself
Forces you to literally
Change how you feel
And it becomes difficult
And tears away at the mind

Above all, the hardest part
Is all the reminders around you
Day after day
Teasing and taunting you
About something that is in the past

The hardest part is the people
Who remind you constantly
Of what you did
Of how they felt
Or even the outcome
They tell you to let things go
Say that it's in the past
And they turn around and blame you
As if time really never passed

Then the blame
The shame
The hurt you felt
Rages through you as a fury

I want to forget
I don't want to miss
the life I'm living now
Over something I can't fix

I don't need you to remind me
Of all of my mistakes
