I so often wonder why
Lucy was up there in the sky
Sporting bright her diamonds
Instead of wings to fly

And how on a boat she would float
Past tangerine trees
There is something about this Lucy
That keeps eluding me

She was clearly here for adventure
And the taste of marshmallow pies
But I can't help but wonder
About those kaleidoscope eyes

And when in the newspaper taxis
That appeared on the shore
Did she get a chance to read about
The news today, oh boy

As she turned around looking into the sun
Did she have her Lennon glasses on
These are just some of the things
That have me wondering

Inside of my cellophane mind
Why was Lucy up there in the sky
Sporting bright her diamonds
Instead of wings to fly
I hope Yoko doesn't sue me over this one...
