You decided to love something
And it became who you are
You know the way home but took a different path
Going alone is for the strong
Or is it the way of the lost
Someone told me it is for those who can only be free

Like every ocean crossed
And every mountain climbed
There’s so much of life worth fighting for
Into our eyes we choose
Either the sun or the night
But what makes a shadow is what blocks the light

It was my past facing the sun
An eclipse of my own doing
I wondered if my mistakes could ever be forgiven
But statues don’t walk away
Shoelaces don’t tie themselves
And even misty morning coffee can’t bring you back to me
