I see sun flares when you smile
Filling me with warmth and an odd
Feeling of desperation and exhaustion
That shames my stuttering words.

Why do you have to be so pretty and captivating?
When all I can do is turn a blind eye?
Why do you have to be so full of life
When I'm burning inside?

My paint is peeling
Soon, very soon, people will see
And judge that I love you
For what I am and for what you are.

Why do you have to be my everything?
