Equinox reddens
halfhearted cheeks
Bites from which
palates are made sweet

Though cores forgotten,
For in solitude
redness' cheeks hold,
the cyanide that lingers,

Left to rot,
untouched,
its bitterness untold.
Cyanide is a strong base
