People can change
For the better
Or for worse
And I know this for certain
Because I lost a friend

The others don't blame me
We did our best
Trying to bring him home
But our promises were all made void

She believed in me
Said I was the only one
Who could save him from himself
But I am not wiser or stronger
Because I lost a friend

He laughs and he mocks me
For the friendship I believed in
The one he betrayed
And inside I am wounded deeply
Because we lost a friend
People don't always become a better person when they change, and sometimes there isn't really anything you can't do to get them back.
