I remember you
Your glazed eyes, your empty smile
Your slumped shoulders, your blank mind

I remember you
A whisper of freckles, a hint of warmth
Beneath those porcelain cold lips

I remember you
Once a roaring flame of a soul
Then merely a splutter of what once was

I remember how you flew
With the wings only you could see
Your arms spread wide
Neither a branch nor twig to collide

I remember the sky that day
A crimson hue of jasper’s tongue
And in that shadowing sight
The darkness overtook your glorious light

I’m sorry I can only remember you
And how you used to sing
But oh how the memory shines!
Shine on, shine on, shine on.
