'DO EVERYTHING ONCE’ ?

‘ Do everything once’—how common the exhortation
  Why just once, why not twice or even thrice?
  How many lives have been ruined
  By this inane advice!

  ‘Do everything right’  
   That should be the way to go
    Life has too many pitfalls
    Those who have fallen will tell you so.
