I've seen love in a million faces,
almost caught her in a million places,
but she's so illusive,
can't be subdued,
before you know it,
she'll have you fooled.
She'll feed your heart, and lift it up,
then seemingly she's had enough.
From heights you'll fall,
a downward spiral,
she'll pierce your soul,
and hold you liable.
she'll tear you open, inside out,
make you wish you had a doubt.
Force you to beg,
and plead for mercy,
and wish this quench was never thirsty.
When fairy tales are all but over,
and these dragons can't be slayed,
it's then you wake to face the nightmare,
of being loves hopeless slave.

A poem can be a heartbeat
Or just a simple smile
Meant to mend a broken soul
That's smothered with denial

It can be about forgiveness
Words your lips can't speak
"I'm sorry" written on paper
That solace that you seek

It can be about the sunshine
Or the tears that's in the rain
Maybe a long lost memory
That fills your heart with pain

It can be about relationships
Written with your pain
Built on broken promises
With the lies that now remain

A poem can tell us who we are
Or who we used to be
But most of all a poem is written
To set our emotions free
one persistent thought haunts my awareness
who will it be? you or me?
the first to finish this marathon!
i wish it would be me, then instantly i regret
i know without me you won’t be able to carry on
but if you were to go i know
i would be equally undone!
i know i’ll live to tell our tale
but fear that i may not want to tell it
it won’t be a matter of living, it’s a concern about my spirit
never again to feel your presence, your comforting glance
never to argue, never to fight, never to reconcile
- i dread i won’t be able to bear it
so all i can hope and believe for now
is that if ever i could strike a deal with destiny, it would be this -
that when the end comes, let our radiance dim together
not a second earlier, not a second later

You're in my thoughts right now
as I stand here watching the stars twinkling softly
the light morning breeze playing gently or' my skin
it's so peaceful I could swear I heard your heart beating.

Somewhere a bird sings as another takes to flight
did she say to him those self same words
did he too hear her heartbeat
beating out his name.

As yet the flowers sleep
their scent but a pleasant memory
but soon, too soon
morning will wake them from their beds
as must you and once more leave me,

but for now
whilst night still keeps her tender vigil
I'll think only of you sleeping
and hope
that I too play softly on your mind
as you
so play on mine.

a woman stood with silver hair
laugh lines had long set in
a kind smile she gives to me
a lifelong tail she spins
of mr right and mr wrong
of love and of deceit
of all the wemen excluding her
her man swept off their feet
she tells me of her children
and the hard times that they shared
the laughter thats between them
and the burdens that they bear
she reminisced of good old times
a smile apon her face
she told me not a single momment
ever i should waste
she told me that its crazy
how quickly time flies
how so often if she could
shed trade time for being wize
she told me id be ok
in this world of mine
if i could only find someone
to share it by my side
i told her i had found the one
she didnt seem surprised
for at 18 she too
was to be a bride
so were alike in many ways
young love was hers and mine
im glad to let her relive this
at least one more time
