Evening's long shadow
lay peaceful between
a walk in the neighbor hood,
where the windows are looked at,
not through.
And the air is
not shattered with alarm.

Behind
the church doors
in the pews: a congregation
is dead.
I take them downstairs
to be buried.

The preacher is undisturbed.
"Where the dead lay
the crows will gather."

This game
played between the ears.
My own arm
beating my own head.
the cry of the small fry,
so the bull bellies up,
filling his hole.
Always in need of more.

Behind an ancient well,
with stillness,
and under a dark sky
with diamonds,
there is no natural,
nor is there any contrived

The vow
 Dec 2012 Nigel Obiya
Mia
I  promise that I will always love you.
I will try not to take out on you my issues
push you away cause am hurting from anything else.
I will try to remain the girl you fell in love with.
I will fight with you but wont let you sleep angry
Will offer you solace when you're sad
I promise to spoil you and be silly with you
To be that pain you like
get you addicted to me
You know you want to be
Be your lover and friend.
Cause I belong with you
You belong with me
Forever and a day more
Get you lovey dovey
make you another person
the one you need to be.
Support your dreams
lift you up when you're defeated
But most of all I will always be there when you need a friend
Or just want to talk.
I have heavy boots
My boots are filled with all of the things I never say
They are getting heavier with all the things I never do
Sometimes it’s just easier to wear heavy boots
At least your legs get strong
SometImes I wonder
if you ever knew, exactly how happy I waS,
WiTh you

SometImes I wonder
couLd you ever see, the joy in my eyes
When you were with me

Sometimes I wonder
if you can recaLl, the days when Summer
Turned into FaLl

SOmetimes I wonder
if I'm still your muse, or if you'd sing for me
The way you'Ve used to

SomEtimes I wonder
what the hell happened, now to You I am
Only a has-been

Sometimes I wOnder
if you still think of me when you walk past that

The Eerie Dance Upon The Moon,
The Boy Who Held The Silver Spoon,
Inside His Mouth When He Was Born,
His Eyes Were Round And Full Of Scorn,
He Only Grined To Cover A Scowl,
I Was Prey, A Mouse To An Owl,
I Looked At Him And Had No Desire,
His Soul Is Cold, And Mine Is Fire,
That Spoon Was Not Silver, It Was Just Tin,
That's What I've Learned Throughout Our Sins,
They're Rotten Fruit Which Hangs From Trees,
I Took A Bite And Through Them To The Bees,
His Eyes Were Burning Through My Skin,
His Pupils Were Needles Burrowing In,
Innocent But Wanted For Someone's Crime,
I'm Still In My Sentence Doing My Time,
I Am Smothered By His Permanent Scent,
Because Of All The Time We've Ever Spent,
The Boy Who Held The Silver Spoon,
Shall Receive His Karma Very Soon,
Making People Think It Was Silver And Then
They Realized It Was Just Tin

white, green in a bottle or a machine.
foul breath creams
out words that i hold dear.

holding up a candle
by its burning wick
while a sea breeze slaps me
with a salty sting.

fumbling through an atmosphere
joined tongue and groove,
from the first breath to the last,
the artichoke heart pumps out a beat.

one foot in front of the other,
another swing, the pinata breaks,
raining down lies to be gathered up
and taken home,
to be stretched out and hung
along side of the truths.
