I know now
You did love me,
You just had a different way of showing it,
Through gifts and acts of service
That didn’t speak to me.

I know now
You did love me,
But we were different people
Triggering each other
From our past histories, hurt and pain.

I know now
You did love me,
In spite of your atrocious behaviour,
But we were two different people
With different values and expectations.

I know now
You did love me,
And it’s tragic
We couldn’t make it work,
But enough of the arguments, control
And lack of trust -
A cornerstone of all relationships.

I know now
You did love me,
And I wish you well
And truly hope you can overcome your demons and challenges,
And find the right person
Who loves you
For you deserve happiness.

I know now
You did love me.
And I loved you.

“When you walk through a storm
Keep your chin up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark.

At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you’ll never walk alone!
You’ll never walk alone.”
One of my mum’s favourite songs from her favourite musical “Carousel” by Rodgers and Hammerstein that often comforts me

“Try and be patient,
Have plenty of hobbies,
Keep your friends,
We do need them
Even if we don’t always think the same as them,
Be happy -
Even if you have to work at it”
Wise words of advice from my mum who sadly is no longer here 🥰

“When you’re lonely, I wish you love.
When you’re sad, I wish you joy.
When you’re discouraged, I wish you hope.
When your spirit is low, I wish you beauty.
When you’re troubled, I wish you peace.”
I have just come across this poem to me from my mum while she was alive. Not originally written by her but edited from memory, and one I need to remember. Thank you Mum x 🥰
