Fool With A Pen
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
First off my friend
Let me begin
By saying I ain't no poet
Just a fool with a pen

Now with those pleasantries
Out of the way
Let me proceed to say
What I need to say

I've written different poems
On different subjects, different matters
Some soft as a kitten
Others mad as a hatter

Every now and then
I stand on the serious ledge
But more often than not
I fall right off the edge

Like I said before
I'm just a fool with a pen
Drooling from my smile
Cross eyed in my grin

Separating in rhyme
All the boys from the men
Cackling in crazy
From beginning to end

Thanking my lucky stars
Rhyming comes so easy
Like a trip to Venus or Mars
Half baked brain and over queasy

Like I said before
When all of this began
I really ain't no poet
Just a fool with a pen

Buckets of Tears
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
Buckets of tears
Buckets of rain
Funny to me
Both look the same

As the clouds and I
Both give away
Buckets of sorrow
Over years we have saved

Both come with handles
For easy pour
Both look the same
Spilled out on the floor

~Your Best~
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
Do you take time out to listen

Or lend a helping hand

Do you see what others are missing

And try to give to them

Do you only give the basics

Or go much deeper than that

Do you spend time well, not wasting

Giving  till there’s nothing left

Do you try and solve the problems

Give a good listening ear

Is your shoulder easy to cry on

Are you comfort between doubt and fear

Do you try and do what’s right

In all that’s done and said

Guess what I’m asking at this time

Is do you do your best

~It's Going To Be Alright~
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
And when the time does come

Where I lose my very thoughts

Right before the last rung

On the verge of fall

When all that I have left to grab

Is this simple plea

With what little time I have left

Throw your arms round me

Then kindly whisper in my ear

As you hold me tight

At that point all I need to hear

Is it's going to be alright

Thinking of You

You are the first
You are the last
Thought in the morning
And at night I have

You also are
Believe you me

muddy waters
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
will we ever get back
to where we wish we were
will it be any different
than it was before
will we mark it down
as lessons learned
the moment we found
we wish that we were
or will it be
that our bridges were burned
over the muddy waters of
lessons never learned
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
Your friends were floored
When you found the Lord
Changing your way of life

Yet they saw in you
Something new
Different as day and night

Though every now and then
You dip your toes in
The muddy waters of the mainstream

But that's okay
It's not like you dip every day
Anyways it's only up to your knees

"Just because you're a Christian
doesn't mean you have a license to sin"

You grew up in church
Where the lessons you learned
Were all grilled into your head

Barely leaving a mark
Upon your heart
To be nurtured and Godly fed

Although you know Jesus
There's a consensus
You're still a babe in the faith

Eating soft food and milk
Not sure you ever will
Taste the true goodness that is The Way

"Just because you've been forgiven
doesn't mean you have a license to sin"

You do everything right
Know all the Christian sound bites
Pray sometimes when you get the chance

Don't drink or smoke
Know that dope is for dopes
And wouldn't dare dance if given the chance

You see the world in its mess
And so thankful you're His
And with the good as gone you don't associate

You dabble in love
Hoping that it's enough
While in your heart you still hold hate

"Just because you're a Christian
doesn't mean you have a license to sin"

Gots
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
I want what you have got
Because you have what I have not
And as an afterthought
You also want what I have got

Never are we satisfied
With what we're given in this life
When all we think of all the time
Is I want yours and you won't mine

Because you want what I have got
When I have what you have not
And then as an afterthought
I also want what you have got

Looking
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
We're all looking for something
To spend our something on
Like a leaf looks for a breeze
A singer looks for a song

Some look for what matters
Some don't care at all
Some are looking for a lift out of this
While others look for a fall

Some flowers like people are looking for Spring
So they can begin again
Some look for the Winter to spill its chill
Putting this all to an end

Some are looking for this and that
Some only looking for this
Sweet 16 by any means
Are out there looking for their first kiss

Some are looking for answers
As problems in life abound
Some are looking for their inner voice
But have yet to hear the sound

Some are looking at a broken heart
In hopes that it will heal
Some have lost the fact of who they are
And only show up for meals

Some are looking to join the crowd
Some to be left alone
Some know where it's at but have yet to grasp the fact
Like when a poet looks for a poem

A Mess Of Poetry
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
I've come to the conclusion
That my life's a wreak
Poetry strewn all about
My house the biggest mess

So here I am in the middle of the den
In a pile of poetry on the floor
A desperate man with phone in hand
Since I can't seem to find the door

I call up a Psychic
I call up my Shrink
I call up the local Priest
To ask them what they think

They say there is no hope for me
Through the static on the phone
Right before they all hang up
I hear...boy you're too far gone

So I grab a hold my bootstraps
Pick my own self up
Determined to have this problem licked
With prayers and major luck

Starting in on this poetic clean
One thing that I found
I wrote on just about anything
That I had laying around

There was poetry on party napkins
On Chinese take out meals
Tiny poetry on tiny matchbooks
Even on banana peals

Poetry on the chandelier
Poetry on my cat Floss
Poetry on ***** dishes
I wrote with spaghetti sauce

Poetry on the mirrors
Smiling back at me
Poetry on Seinfeld
Across my T.V. screen

Poetry on the kitchen tile
That's never seen a mop
On the doors going in and out
And places I dare not look

I started cramming it all in boxes
Lining them up and down the halls
Soon had them in every room
3 feet deep and 8 feet tall

I made 15 trips to storage
The biggest one that I could find
Feeling now it's nice and safe
All packed tight, warm and dry

When it all was over
Feeling relief from that major chore
Set down in my den, took out my pen
And started writing more...

choose the day
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
today is
quiet and shy
a bit confused
questioning why

today is
new to the scene
catch it in its prime
before it ups and leaves

today is
sad and downcast
till comes tomorrow
where it changes its path

today is
picture perfect
film at 11
59 then that's it

today is
both hot and cold
where you get to choose
the soup that comforts your soul

today is
loud and out of control
grabs ahold
not letting go

today is
another day
you can start anew
today make a change

"The Secret Handshake"
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
You know that I know
But not about to let on
To the secret of the secret handshake

It's been around for years
Barely above a whisper
As most take it to their grave

No one knows where it's from
It's just been here all along
Comes in different models and makes

Has a manual to please
In invisible ink
So the secret's not given away

You must swear on an oath
Not to let the truth go
To do so would be a mistake

Sounds mad as a hatter
But it's no laughing matter
The secret of the secret handshake

Mike Hauser Aug 2018
Please pick me up

Then sit me back down

On a far away beach

In the soft summer sand

With the water so close

I can reach out my hand

Grab hold the next wave

And let it pull me in

Want's
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
I find over time that I have want's
As my life grinds along
I don't want to fit into the mold
I want to know more than I've been told

I want every time I can to take the chance
Be the one to lead in my own dance
I want my own flame that I can fan
But not so much that it gets out of hand

I want to be happy with where I'm at
Every chance that I get
I want to know the truth in what's been said
Smile where it counts, till my very last breath

I want to sing in harmony
With every single person that I meet
I want an open mind that helps me see
When someone disagrees with me

I want to give a hug and take one home
Learn to forgive those that have done me wrong
I want to do even if they don't
Be the glue that keeps it on point

I have found over time I have my want's
Before my life grinds to a halt
I want to know more than I've been told
And pick from the goodness that all life holds

Something In-Between
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
There's something in-between us
I'm not sure I can say
But I hope to put my finger on
Top of it one day

And on that day I hope that it
Shows itself for what it is
That something that's between us
We'll seal it with a kiss

Then take it out and show it off
That something in-between
All around will marvel at
What this something means

This something here between us
That so longs been festering
We both then will face the fact
It finally made it to the scene

That something in-between us
What else can I say
Without really letting on
Or giving it away

ain't it though...
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
all bug-eyed and blank stared
i see you too have been there
around people that don't care
it's something we all share

ain't it a wonder...
ain't it a pity...
ain't it a shame...

we've all seen the good old days
torn from our past page
where no one thought to save
haphazardly tossed away

ain't it a wonder...
ain't it a pity...
ain't it a shame...

where love was once alive
stood strong by our side
turns out it's not so kind
didn't it once shine

ain't it a wonder...
ain't it a pity...
ain't it a shame...

took a book from off the shelf
always in search of help
the deeper we delve
it's all about self

ain't it a wonder...
ain't it a pity...
ain't it a shame...

ain't it a wonder the piles we heap
ain't it a pity most do not see
ain't it a shame we have such needs
making us our own worst enemy

ain't it a wonder...
ain't it a pity...
ain't it a shame

Two demons escape their fate
From swimming in the fiery lake
They'd grown tired of the heated pool
Needing to dip their toes into something cool

So it was out of flesh and bone
They made for themselves a sailing boat
Without a word they bade hell leave
Sailing off to humanities sea

They sailed by and it's just as well
Dante's nine circles of hell
They found nothing funny along the way
But to Dante himself they both did wave

When their boat broke the surface
They both grew rather nervous
The first thing they saw was a fiery ball
Thinking they'd made a u-turn and were both back home

But the atmosphere was way to cool
The shrugging demons never knew
Not owning any winter gear
Not sure they were going to like it here

They headed out in search of some
Good old fashion satanic fun
When what happened to catch their demonic eyes
But the ***** and Gomorrah of todays city life

They both felt at home, they fit right in
To the debauchery and rampant sin
The only difference with these human fools
Is not a one of them has a clue

All the while thinking they are free
******* tight onto Satan's leash
Paying the ever so heavy cost
Of a man who is...but doesn't know he's lost

The demons had seen all this before
That's why they got so easily bored
Yes, this they'd seen and done it all
So they placed a person to person call

The boys both had to really dance
When it comes to Satan there's no second chance
So after six hundred and sixty six days of being gone
They got back in their boat and sailed back home

Reflection
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
My reflection changes
With age in hand
No need for a mirror
To see who I am

I just need the memory
Of all that I have done
To help me reflect on
What I have become

My reflection has changed
As all do in time
It's no longer the mirror
That catches my wanting eye

It is now my memory
The older that I get
That helps me reflect
On who I really am

We Are Nothing Without Love
Mike Hauser Aug 2018
We are nothing without love
Ships lost at sea without their sails
With life's bitter storms soon too come
We need love above all else

We are nothing without love
Too steep the hill too hard the climb
Too late to grasp what is to come
As we succumb to life's mudslides

We are nothing without love
An empty train on a dead-end track
At the end without reverse
With no way to make it back

We are nothing without love
An unmade bed with no rest
Those that are left, toss and turn
With only dreams of love instead

We are nothing without love
Abandoned buildings, emptiness
Demolition soon to come
We are nothing without love

Do It All Out Of Love
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
If I had to make a guess
I'd have to guess not much time is left
I hope and pray we don't leave a mess
When all is done and all is said

This generation is well worth saving
If there's any saving to be done
I hope and pray we find a way
To do it all out of love

If we spared a minute and gave all worth giving
Then we'd give all that we have
I hope and pray that what we give away
Will reflect on all that's left

We have the answer surely as we stand here
Fits as tight as a winters glove
I hope and pray the day we give it away
We do it all out of love

We're Getting There
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Up and down the East coast
Is pretty much the same
All in a state of comatose
From Southern Florida to Northern Maine

And if you take a left
You find yourself out West
From the East to in-between
Blank stares are all you pass

It's hard to find a person that
You feel really cares
Not quite sure if we're done yet
But we're getting there

The same I think is going on
Other places in this world
We all want to be left alone
But loneliness is not the cure

We socialize and still we find
There's no one we really know
As we never make it face to face
Locked tight inside our homes

We all have our issues
Feel free to compare
Not quite sure if we're done yet
But we're getting there

Leaders say they have the answers
And we pay them well to tell
But corruption spreads like cancer
On good intentions road to hell

From every living continent
On all sides of the globe
People are more like sheepeople
Doing just as they are told

Baaaaaing out there complaints
That life is never fair
Not quite sure if we're done yet
But we're getting there

Gamblers
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Mostly on the money
At least most of the time
Betting our decisions
Like gamblers do on life

Though we never know which way the wind blows
Or the roll of the dice
And until it is you get there
You never know what you'll find

And still, yet we place our bets
On what is coming next
We spin the wheel as we deal
With the time that we have left

Trying to make it to the window
Right before the window's close
What comes next with our last breath
Only heaven knows

Mostly on the money
At least most the time
Betting our decisions
Like gamblers do on life

The Ladder of Justice
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
With age as a number
I've lived long enough
To see how the ladder
Of justice is rung
From rich to poor
From top to bottom
Justice is hard
For the poor man in climbing
Money corrupts
The ladder of justice
The higher the rung
The larger the palm
I've seen it all
The climb and the fall
If truth be told
It's not justice for all

some people
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
some people dig
holes to be filled
live and let live
**** or be killed
some people sow
some people reap
some let it go
while others keep
the ones that do
either don't or they won't
if they're brand new
won't be long for they're old
differences
between day and night
some muddle in wrong
some puddle in right
some clear the way
others are weeds
blind as a bat
clearly can see
laid out and bare
hidden beneath
righteous and kind
stubborn and mean
some people are *****
some people are clean
some are up front
some in-between
fall to the right
to the left lean
call it a night
some never sleep
some people dig
holes way too deep
some people are you
some people are me

~Binkie's Big Yard Sale~
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
It's the big day of the big yard sale
Where every thing must go
There was much to much to haul out to the front
So I opened up the home

There were gobs of people everywhere
Wandering around with arms packed full
I'm making money hand over fist
This idea was really cool

You see my neighbors came to me with their front door key
And asked if I'd watch Binkie their cat
While they spent a few days away, I said sure what the hey
So they showed me where everything Binkie was at

While they were gone Binkie got bored
He missed his masters who were out of town
I thought a yard sale would be just the thing, Binkie purred that'd be neat
And of course it brought Binkie's good mood back around

Now before you start thinking bad thoughts of me
And wonder how anyone could sell everything they had
I want you to know I had a slight twinge of guilt
Right before I sold Binkie the cat

World Revolution
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
The world is in revolution
Spinning out of control
From yesterdays quakes to today's sun bake
Clearly has a mind of its own

With volcanic ash covering this and that
As the world blows its top
The world is in revolution
With no sign, it's going to stop

With the rising of ocean levels
In an attempt to wash its shores clean
From all of the trash that has been left
As man frivolously tosses debris

A tornado or two out of the blue
To wipe out a few trailer parks
Or a winter storm out of the norm
To leave those unsuspecting shivering in the dark

And if the weather doesn't expire us
The world cooks up a nasty virus
Until man in his wisdom comes up with a cure
Then the world changes strains and comes back for more

Yes the world is in revolution
Spinning out of control
From the North, East, and West, to the South never rests
Until man is no more

God's Master Plan
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
The day we met
We dove in deep
Ringing true
With destiny
Now you're my woman
I'm your man
As we both join in
God's master plan

A day set forth
At the dawn of time
On a straight and narrow course
With us in mind
As we both fell in
To loves demand
Being a part of
God's master plan

And then blessed with
Two angel doves
Sent from heaven
Wrapped in love
A promise given
A promise kept
A family living
God's master plan

When our time ends
And we leave this place
We'll both bow down
In saving grace
Where life for us
Will begin again
To never end in
God's master plan
For my beautiful wife.
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
She told me she's from somewhere
But I still have my doubts
Asks if I've ever been there
Maybe so but I've lost count

She showed me her reflection
Sparkles as it shines
Asks me if I have one
I say yes but it's not mine

She counts off the minutes
Adds them to her day
Asks if I can spare one
But I gave mine away

True to her convictions
A truth that ain't no lie
The day I found her missing
She never said goodbye

My guess is she went somewhere
Strung along by sound
I might one day go back there
But still, I have my doubts

Dating Poets

I've dated poets most of my life
So I could talk back and forth in rhyme

Sounds a bit  odd to some I know
But it helps with the conversations flow

That is where my mind is at
Poetry in every breath

Speak to me in hyperbole's
Sure fire way to get what you please

Sweet imagery entices me
Otherwise I may not have seen

It helps to shine a different light
When you date poets most of your life

Pretending
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
I pretend that I am happy
When I'm all but sad
Pretend I'm in a good mood
When that's clearly not in my head

I pretend that I am caring
When selfishness fills my plate
When mostly thin I'm wearing
I pretend I have all day

I pretend that I am having
The very best of times
I pretend to think of others
But I can't spare the dime

I often say that I'm okay
When I may not be
As I pretend to be all these things
But maybe that's just me

I pretend to be concerned
When I'm really not
If patience is a virtue
I pretend even that

Whatever it is I'm not into
That's when I pretend
And if it goes over well enough
Why not pretend it again

Sometimes I do get confused
Is this real or just pretending
I guess that all depends
Which one has the happy ending
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
As our States go into a state of confusion
In the passing of their passing of laws
Saying now that all their fine citizens
Can freely lay out and get ******

As a matter of fact haven't they been doing that
For years if my minds working correctly
I guess the difference now when they lounge around
They can freely puff on it legally

So let's all take the bongs out of hiding
And add some fresh liquid to it
Invite over the neighbors you've never talked to
To share in a neighborly spliff

It'll certainly make everyone happy
When we come together and roll up a fatty
Don't worry if to this party you're a newbie
Here take a hit off this doobie

We'll order out pizza
And crank up Netflix
Watch My Little Pony
And laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and...

Wait...now where was I? Oh Yea!

So let's take all the bongs out of hiding

Hold on...have I already said that?
Dude, this is freaking me out!  Lol!

Oh okay, here we go...

You can now grow your own
On your very own farm
But instead of deep in the woods
It can now be your front yard

Of course all the neighbor kids
You'll have to watch
As they pass by your place
And pick from your crops

So then you'll have to invest
In a scary guard dog
To keep them at bay
And out of your plot

But of course you'll be ******
And forget that he's there
Where he'll end up hungry
And start eating his share

There goes your profit
There goes your crop
Plus all the time you'll spend behind the dog
With a baggy waiting for doggie do do drops

But then again the government
May not let you grow your own stuff
As you wait for the F.D.A.
To authorize all your drugs

And we all know when you get
The government involved
Bureaucratic common sense
Too often gets lost

Maybe this legalization thingy
Is not the best of ideas
Things seemed to run smoother
When we all kept our *** hid...
Should I apologize now or later for this fiasco...

~fiasco~
a thing that is a complete failure,
especially in a ludicrous or humiliating way

Yea...that about sums it up.

I would like to add that I don't do drugs....
But then again if I did do drugs it would explain a lot wouldn't it...

The End
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
If somebody told you
This is the end
And if you knew those words to be true
Would you do things different

Would you be kind to your neighbor
Call up your friends
Set a meet and greet with your enemies
To make amends

Would your main focus
Be on that last breath of life
Or would it go unnoticed
With the fact that you're dying

Would you marvel at all
The mess of debt you collect
All the now worthless stuff
That fills your life and your head

You can't take it with you
Is what they always say
So why is our grip so tight on it
All the way to the grave

If you were told that the end
Was one heartbeat away
What would that truth do to you
And would you even change

dreams
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
sometimes my dreams make a living
sometimes they barely make out
sometimes it seems that sometimes my dreams
are more than just riddled with doubt

sometimes my dreams dream me
that's when i have to pinch myself
is this all a dream or mostly reality
and at what point do i find that out

sometimes my dreams take a minute
sometimes they go on and on
feels like i've seen it as they all have me in it
sometimes with strangers, sometimes alone

sometimes i dream in slow motion
sometimes i dream i can fly
sometimes it seems that sometimes my dreams
are just a long drawn out dream in the question of why

sometimes i dream in color
though i'm told it's all black and white
and with that being said it's all in my head
as i bid you all a goodnight

Words

Words are not just talk
In what they have to say

Words that go unmentioned
Can make or break a day

Words can lift you up
Or they can put you down

Words can put you off
Or they can bring you round

Words can breathe the truth
Then exhale in lies

Words can answer this
Words can question why

Words can be an afterthought
Or no thought at all

Words can find the lonely
Words can save the lost

Words can make their way
Helping to explain

Words if not used properly
Can set the world a-flame

Words can be gently whispered
Even screamed out loud

Words can leave a blister
At the slightest sound

Words can brick relationships
Building up of walls

Words are met with promises kept
When used for the good of all

Do you realize
That while we're asleep
Bugs crawl in our ears
And whisper strange things
That's why we have
The strangest of dreams
With bugs in control
While we're asleep
As they try and direct
Our thoughts where we lay
To make us think
That all is okay
But not all is okay
If you know what I mean
As bugs crawl in our ears
And whisper strange things

"Be"
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Be the wheel
that's set to turn
The comfort in
the daily hurt
The flame that lights
not the one that burns
Be the lesson
that is learned

Be the hope
and not despair
The helping hands
that show you care
The pleasure ride
that takes you there
Be the truth
inside the dare

Be the answer
to the call
The very reason
for it all
The solid yes
to all the no's
Be the river
that freely flows

Be the kindness
that we need
The encouragement
that sets us free
The do good
to the deed
Be all this
and all of these

*Stuffed*
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Right here, right now, right off the cuff
I must say that I have stuff
Possessions or obsession
Either way it's way too much

I've been collecting all these years
Moving forward, grinding gears
Stuffing boxes here and there
Piles of purchase everywhere

Knick knacks piled on top of shelves
Collecting dust above all else
Each one seems to be mid scream
Could it be a cry for help

I even buy extra stuff
Where I can stuff my stuff
From massive sheds with metal lids
And still it's not enough

A problem for me I say maybe
But at least it's one I love
After all as I recall
Can you really ever have too much stuff
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
There's no reasonable explanation
As to how this all went down
When the world woke up one morning
All made up as clowns

Not a single person across the land
Did this phenomenon not claim
With big red buttons on their chests
Spelling out new funny names

There was Patches and Petunia
Floppy and Cupcake
Winky and Bumper the Clown
Were just a few that they displayed

Everyone went about their business
Only now they all carpooled
You could see clowns piling out of cars everywhere
From businesses to stores to schools

Crime it did die down
Because all the guns that people have
Instead of shooting bullets
Shoot out brightly colored Big Bang Flags

Of course the circus lost its glamour
With an audience made up of clowns
It's hard to tell who's there enjoying
And who's entertaining all the crowds

People stopped taking each other seriously
Over anything they had to say
Pointing at each other and laughing
As they go about their day

Who knew a thing like this would happen
When the world went to bed last night
That the very next morning
They'd wake up clowns for life

Oh, I almost forgot the Politicians
Were the only ones to stay the same
It's already a simple known fact
When you're already a clown you don't need to change

A Girl Named Purpose
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
I'm not sure you've heard of
But there's a girl out there named Purpose
For whom I have been searching
I hear that she's well worth it

When I find her I won't tarry
I'll ask her to marry
And without a second thought
A child for me she'll carry

We'll name the child ambition
Something I have been missing
I'll rock her to sleep at night
In the day make her my mission

From this day forward
Knowing full well to be worth it
Striving in my finding
For that girl named Purpose

Mike Hauser Jul 2018

long ago
the fall of man
what has changed since then

we sinned
back then
eden now the internet
apple phone in hand

desiring
wisdom
making ourselves little gods
google giving us the nod

nothing

different times same old dance
dealing with the fall of man

Lifes Three-Minute Song
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Some had dreams, some had high hopes
Cause life's a song when you're young you know
As you and your friend's all hum along
But where does the melody go

Three-minute songs never last long
As life turns the dial on its car radio
Playing a song you never dreamed you'd ever know
Or at least that's what you had hoped

Is there really a need to come out and ask
What once was Top 40 is now the Blues and Slow Jazz
With your dreams and your hopes now in the past
As three-minute songs never last all being over much too fast

... a touch of love
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
What takes a moment and moves it beyond
... a touch of love

What is the one thing you can always count on
... a touch of love

Can change the direction of any given day
... a touch of love

When in an argument, has the last say
... a touch of love

Able to bring beasts to their knees
... a touch of love

Grabs hold the captive and sets them free
... a touch of love

Surpasses understanding to the warm hearts delight
... a touch of love

Never demanding always just right
... a touch of love

Can calm any fear, true or made up
... a touch of love

Perfectly balanced, the perfect touch
... a touch of love

Yesterday Lied...
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Everything is going to be okay
No need for you to be afraid
All that said was yesterday

Yesterday lied...

Here we are now in the today
Along with every promise ever made
And all to this I have to say

Yesterday lied...

While tomorrow may be too late
As memories do tend to fade
Nothing new in what life gives away

Yesterday lied...

Winter Coat
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
I have this winter coat
That I often wear
Whenever I am told
That you will soon be here

You can't help but chill
What ever room you're in
With the icicles
You start conversations with

And that cold shoulder
That you have for me
Makes me want to order
Up an early Spring

When in a bank of cold
You drift in alone
That is when I know
To wear my winter coat

Chicken Little Had It Right
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Chicken Little had it right
When he ran for his life
No time for 911 calling

All he had time to do
Were a few **** a doodle doos
All the while screaming the sky is falling

You can always hope for the best
But who out there studies for tests
Hello, this is history calling

Won't you come please join us
There's plenty of room on the bus
As life on this side is rather daunting

Pretty sure we've been here before
But hey, who's keeping score
Are we forwards or backwards crawling

Chicken Little had it right
When he ran for his life
All the while screaming the sky is falling

~Feathers~
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
For years now I've been collecting feathers
Cause one day I'm going to up and fly
Pull up my landing gear head straight out of here
The only limit being the sky

I might even shoot for the Moon
As most days that is my mood
I'm not really into space I just need to get away
And not come back anytime too soon

So I'll continue on collecting these feathers
In hopes that one day I'll fly
My way out of here slamming high the gears
With the only limit being that of the sky

Oh No Yoko Ono
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Yoko heard the gun go
Off in his hands
Yoko saw the life flow
Out of her man

Yoko heard the sad moan
All across the land
Yoko is alone
To never understand

Yoko must cope
In this devil's dance
Yoko with us lost hope
With give peace a chance

Yoko had to let go
Of her man John
While Yoko held on
To their son Shawn

Yoko played the scapegoat
All these many years
Yoko Ono
Cries real tears

As Yoko watched the world go
From love to hate
Yoko misses John so
Eight days a week
Started thinking of words that rhyme with Yoko and came up with this...I miss John Lennon

Glory
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
Glory,
the name they gave their daughter
the moment that they saw her
on the day she came to be

Glory,
words used to describe her
there ain't nothing like her
this side of Tennessee

Glory,
greets the new day dawning
smiles brightly at the morning
as she whispers to the breeze

Glory,
gives away all she's given
it's how she makes her living
and how she stays so free

Glory,
a child of will and wonder
won't let today's tide pull her under
the guardian of her keep

the high road
Mike Hauser Jul 2018
the high road
is soon to be closed
as no one i know
uses it anymore

in desperate need
of daily repair
with no one out there
who really cares

a once solid road
we all traveled on
now the shoulders are soft
the pavement long gone

and with the low road
so easy to take
if we don't read the signs
that point out our mistakes

we'll continue to travel
on the road that runs low
with the route we once took
soon to be closed
