My name is Kunte Kinte,
I've come from lands far away.
I was taken hostage and prisoner,
And forced to be a slave.

Those people took away my name,
And gave me another instead.
My name is now Toby,
And thus Toby I became.

Few weeks past,
I ran away.
I was caught and whipped,
And forced to work again.

I ran away again,
I was caught again too.
This time they also,
Cut off my right foot.

I married a lady named Bell,
Who was black and a slave like me,
We had a little daughter,
Whom I loved and named Kizzy.

I died of a broken heart,
When my wife was bought and sold.
I now lay in a grave,
My story forgotten and in everlasting cold.
After you watch Roots......

Dig a hole in the ground,
Hey ** what have you found?
Tis a bucketful of gold you say,
Say what a lucky mound.

She's a good girl,
She never truants.
She keeps to herself,
And minds her own business.

She never swears,
She never gets mad.
She always combs her hair,
She never argues with her dad.

But she sneaks out night,
To be with her friends.
She parties all night,
But she leaves before it ends.

She's a good girl,
Anyone can see that.
She's her dad's love,,
But who could stop her from a little bit of fun?
To the girl next door

Forever still,
Frozen in time.
In black and white,
To keep those memories fresh and alive.

I'm a piece of glass,
You may call me a window.
I reflect the sun and propel the wind,
I let you see through me.
But why does everyone want to break me?
I swear its soo satisfying to see glass break...

Wherever you go I follow,
I'm always right beside you.
So don't worry about tomorrow,
You go first, I'm right behind you.
