when together,
agreed this rule,
no devices
alighted,
no phones
incited

this is the rule of
us

lest we let the devices rule
us

thus interfering with our own
ignition*
interfering with our own
devices

abecedarian
welcome to me,
in advance,
I thank thee

I am an abecedarian
a newbie,
learning the letters of the alphabet;
the green shoot,
a beginner beginning,
in any field of learning,
but stepping out here
so carefully
in the minefield
of poetic works

but here I find muy self
at your disposal,
hoping that my rearrangement
of our common letters shall
make uncommon sounds,
pleasing all thy senses,
as your essays, do mine

glory and bravery are
for the battlefield

around this table,
I hope to share but
courage and compassion,
battlefield traits as well

glory, none sought,
bravery, some but,
only to be to mine own self, true,

but
courage to dispossess my inner self,
and you, with com-passion,
meeting a welcome reception

these from within,
I conjure and summon
and with these,
bid you peace

of what I shall compose,
are paths yet to be found
on no map plotted or recorded,
but this I speak with utmost surety,
of thee I will surely sing
Left Foot Poet Jul 2014
they came around
this early morn,
asking for you
they always do,
check in regular,
especial in the now
disharmonious waking times,
ever since you checked out

a different path,
your own,
wanted a kitchen
with no His aprons,
where you were
chief chef,
braising simmering, shucking
of your own choosing,
and the cooking accessories
were yours, initialed,
so you stated

in your
'so short, so long' note,^
a trifling amuse-bouche,
for me to consume,
for you,
to be amused by...

so long,
now soloing,
duo thing wasn't working,
two sopranos,
in one kitchen
trying to out
high note each other,
a creatively strange way to say
I love you but,
I am Top Chef

thus is the human way,
to err for what we want,
to err for what we had,
err for what we now need
and the long and the short of it,
long for...

the smell of your voice,
the song of thy fresh creations,
wafting, enticing and now
in hind-sighting,
mesmerizing me awake from
loving bed to contested kitchen

now I only sing and cook professionally

which is another word for mechanically

the voice,
thine cooking smells,
cinnamon and cardamon
that resided in our skins,
check in,
looking for refreshment,
have none to offer....
ever since,
we were
so short, so long...
I loved you, I sang  for you,
I cooked us into everything,
but it was not never enough.

A short note, to say so long....
8:06am  Sunday
An army of seagulls, like Amazons
guardedIng  the gate to the harbor.
stopped him and before letting pass,
asked too many probing rude questions
in an impoverished language
dominated by caws and coos
and many other strange sounds.
No human ear can quite easily catch
"a fantastically foolish lingo",
his human mind sitting on
its high perch judged,
"If ever I have to learn this
how would I manage ?"was the anxiety
that made him judge, it seems.

Life in this twilight world of ours
hides full of surprises,on every turn.
He wouldn't be able to compare
one sunrise or sunset with any other
decide which one was better,
by any standard,
Uniqueness remains the greatest problem sans a solution here,
then, how could one surmise humans are superior to animals?

A cute seagull, a girl for sure, had shown a keen interest in him,
(her eyes were beautiful and she smelled really nice
hence the guess, that was corroborated later)
she tried to sit on his left shoulder as he walked forward
and tried to make friends with him, before any other could attempt!
She was eager to fix up a date with him, that evening itself!

"Do you think I am bit fast, abrupt?" she cooed
"Still a ****** at this age, don't you think
it's high time to worry about it, already?"

No expertise he has  to calculate
a seagull's age, *** appeal and what the plumage suggests,
a stern looking seagull, obviously with some leadership role
stylishly lands in front of him, in a bid to impress,  tries to enquire
about some membership card, that seems to be essential
bit exhausted, a humid day it was, he was amused
why should one be worried about the union interests of
the privileged seagulls in the harbor area, "Am I too one?"

That's when he had a suspicion crept in his  mind
is the harbor gate crossing really means that he too is a seagull?

But yesterday was so wildly human, with it's follies all fallen in place
a rumbustious night he spent with his rowdy girlfriend
who insisted that her left breast loves him more than the other
wanted to test her theory then and there, and started to complain
gravity has started to work wrongly on her endowments
"Act fast": she would urge, fully drunk, she was cawing like a bird.

"Aren't these enough evidence to prove, I am not a seagull. Mr.Judge?"
his quivering words, dissolve in the cacophony of disapproving seaguells.
Ever felt an unconscious  wish to get transformed to another life form
perhaps a seagull?

Icing...

This Sunday morning dawned so differently
I woke up to a lively disposition
The fresh air surrounding me smells of flowers
so rose-fragrant..

This early, I think of you.....

And I see the cream on my coffee
The strawberry jam on my toast

I feel I have plenty of honey to sweeten my lemonade
On a hot summer day

A dash of pepper....plus,
A pinch of a bay leaf,
To enhance the taste of my
Chicken Adobo...

Always, on late night snacks,
You are the ice cream topping
On my slice of apple pie,

The bubbles in my glass of wine
When I am celebrating,
When basking in your presence,
In our happy moments together...

I'll even tell you
You are some kind of sweet music
To start the good memories flowing
When we are apart...

I am thinking,
Even in the years to come,
You shall always be the finishing touch...
The icing,
To complete my whole being...

In my life,
I have never been so certain....

so many

crossing natural boundaries
unreal, imaginary but oh so
real-ity to you
and me

interconnecting contacting
differences, divides, chasms, canyons,
lies, complex and barefaced

bridge creatures
steel, rope, tree branch, eroding concrete,
sturdy shaky, securely dangerous,
each a different irony

this poem,
is of one such bridge

you cannot see its picture
on the Internet

only one or few
can cross it,
only one
can pay the
toll, reap beyond belief
so hefty steep,
when paid, garners
transversing permission,
but tourists in groups can
sneak- peak

this poem~bridge connects
the image I see of myself,
first look, awakening brought,
and the inner poet
who word passages across
the rickety rope one for crumbs of truth,
while throwing his secret shames
over the side

let us leave it here
