If by way of water I could see you where you sit
I'd take hold of the oars and commandeer a ship
if upon the open air I could hear the tears you cry
I'd leave the earth behind just to seek you in the sky
if beneath the mantle, your love had gone and died
I'd dare to delve the center and open you up wide
I'd like to inject you with a vile of happiness
Pop you a dose of awareness
Let you breathe in a cloud of kindness;
You are so full of negativity
It is aging your image
And rotting you to the core;
Let me spark the fire within you
Open your eyes to the light
Be rid of the pessimist
Blow away the dark cloud haunting you
And watch you shine brightly
Until positivity is crystallized among you.

I only knew how
To be a poet when
I was sad or
Feeling down

So when the grey clouds
Faded away revealing
Sunlight and warmth
I became silent

I only knew how
To write about
Broken hearts and
Broken promises

So when promises
Were kept and
Band-aids helped heal
I became silent

I only knew how
Pain stabbed
And tears stained
And thoughts cursed me

So when happiness came
I forgot what it felt like
To feel love & joy
I became silent

I won't say I'm better
Because I still have moments
But I'm done being silent
I'm not keeping this to myself
I've been gone a while so my apologies. Writers block *****. This isn't my best but the block is fading. So here's something.
You are not my children,
tender as you are.
You are not my lover,
though you cause my heart to yearn.
You are not my sun,
or my moon,
or my star.

I set you on this rock;
you will not make me burn.

You are simply sticks,
arranged upon the pyre.
You are clever tricks,
though you flaunt my clear desire.
You are not the match,
or the wick,
or the fire.

I set you on this rock;
To see what might transpire.

You will never be a pheasant's egg to be coddled.
You are only this: a calf led to the slaughter.
A poem addressed to my poems, in the midst of the dreaded poetry workshop, where my lovelies are torn to shreds.  An attempt to maintain distance, for the sake of learning.  It's hard.
