Why do you write with your pen to paper
Living your dreams in your words
Questions in your mind that dive into your work
Creating visions of different worlds

Is it for love or the lack there of?
What does your truth entail
Looking for something where there once was nothing
With hope in your hand, so frail

Why do you write here under an idle light
Sitting, pondering the days
A heart possessing both joy and pain
A wish written in ink that fades

Who do you long for, what do you live for
What composes your reality
Why do you write, dearest poetic soul
What keeps you dreaming?
I write because there is too much of this world that goes unnoticed. We take things for granted, whether a feeling, a scene, a breath, or the words that bind us. So why do you?
She an Athena
Her enchantress Georgina
Endowed she is with a flirtatiously hourglass physique
Every contour gracing her lithe body breathtakingly unique
Her fair peaches-and-cream complexion outshines the sun’s radiance
Oozing luxuriance
Irrefutably a masterpiece of refined aesthetic artistry
Sparking chemistry
Her nightingale voice reverberates softly
With the incessant whistling of the wind, such a novelty
She my Achilles heel
And am head over heel
Hopelessly brainlessly unmistakably insanely in love
I bet I’ve got some nerve

Cupid is such a marvel,....

Dark brown hair that matches her eyes
The girl in the woman who tries to survive
Amongst the concrete of grown ups and serious things
She looks to the sky and she wishes for wings

Notes of melodies pass the window
Of the office of the girl who sways to and fro
From the 53rd floor at her desk she does sit
Questioning, wondering, if this is it

Doodling flowers on figures and sheets
The woman is busy, the child incomplete
As the synthetic air blows in the office space
The polar opposite of a warm winds embrace

Clocks tick and bring a tune to her mind
So far in her life and yet she feels left behind
In a world of numbers and frivolous words
A girl in a woman just longs to be heard

Aspirations of princesses are miles away
Longing for daylight in a castle of grey
As business pushes on, so dreams still survive
The girl in the woman fights to stay alive
Keep a bit of the child you once were, for it's the purest form of you. A color in this world that should not be grayed out... -N.B.

To and fro as the saying goes
As the afros chase rainbows in search of gold
And the money's ****** dry, 'till the rich only supply
Ways to the make the poor poorer & keep the crackheads high
Then we overdose on sighs that all come at once
The teachers so underpaid that we're soon led by the dunce
And the market's like the breakers of the sea, it just crashes
The 99 sinking in ships while the one percent dashes
We find the dream of the US tainted green
Or to put it correctly, it has been tainted greed
With the day to day in ways that leads to the end
With a knife in your back while they pat it like your friend
So reliance on defiance is the key so defy
All the brainwash and the violence, raise you hands to the sky
And live
It is in those broken moments we find ourselves,

Torn to pieces, with no explanation –

A dark crevasse molded to fit our shape,

Holding our deepest thoughts, encasing our forgotten spirit,

We tend to allow ourselves to be encompassed by this abyss –

Explaining to ourselves the need to dwell on the darkened past,

Swallowed by its projection of memories,

Sprayed upon the walls of our mind like murals –

An endless catacomb of images, seemingly permanent in their manifestation…

It is in those broken moments, that we find ourselves.

Seemingly unbearable days, leading to sleepless nights,

Dreading the thoughts that creep their way to our dreams –

Resting in an endless adaptation of our subconscious,

Playing out their roles, as if upon a Shakespearian stage…

Each thought, acting its part with tragic precision,

Layer upon layer, scene upon scene…

Reaching back to grasp our inception of reality –

Griping its contents, and strangling the ideas to exhaustion; gasping…

It was in those broken moments, that we found ourselves,

With a weighted world pressed firmly upon our chest,

The ebbing soil began to crumble –

Giving light to the somber path traversed…

Filling the now hollow crevasse with purpose and meaning,

Each memory defined by the silver lining expressed in love –

The fleeting darkness, swallowed by the over-whelming feeling of home…

Finding it in the simplicity of a kiss, and the certainty of an embrace,

It is here that we find ourselves,

In the intricate details and delicate idiosyncrasies –
A poem written from experience - from the darkened hole to the anticipation of a kiss. I hope that if you have found yourself immersed in the darkness, you find light. Dedicated to the beautiful woman, Jing.

The only lullaby,
In my tired eyes,
Is the bitter taste of alcohol,
The breathtaking smoke,
Of your final cigarette,
And the blood that,
Drips down your arm,
Until you finally pass out.
This lullaby is guaranteed,
To put you to sleep in no time.
High as a kite on a star
I'm not far
From humanity,
Entirely.
Remember me
From what I was
Inside of me.
Of what
Insanity
Carried on
A part of me.
Sleepily memorize temporarily,
Rarity,
Even be
To thee
Thine.

If I were to write a poem
To you
About what would it be?
Your eyes, your laugh, your smile
Your lips?
Or how drastically you've changed me?

~

If you were here
I'd cradle your head
And whisper sweet songs in your ear
I'd stroke your dark hair
You wouldn't go anywhere
Cause all you'd want to be is
Right here

~

If Fear was a man
He would cloak himself in Arrogance
It may keep him warm but
It is not a pleasant sight
If Thought was a woman
She'd cloak herself in Action
Peeling away each layer of Arrogance
From the Heart of Fear
She so desperately wished
To claim

~

I don't smoke
I don't drink
My parents are married
They're happy, I think
I have no diseases
No wounds on my skin
We believe in a God
That shelters within
We are loving and caring
I've all that I need
I am not a delinquent
I take most rules in heed
But when asked if I'm happy
What to say, I don't know
Most often I lie
Since my answer is no
Was looking through my journal and found some poems I forgot to share.
The tick tock
of the wall clock

Counting down
to an immutable sound

The seconds of Life
weigh heavy
on the lips
of words

In the white noise

echoes
the sound of freedoms;
sectioned
to the flights
of fancy

the bustle
the flapping
the aqua eyes

distant birds
silhouetted

Laid to ruin;

amid
the fading memory
of a beautiful
sunrise

sitting on the top step
of the walk up
where dreams lay down
to sleep
I wondered in my waking state
how could marble become slate?

A little girl sits beside me
and hums a pretty tune
I start to sing a life of dreams
but darkness falls too soon

But neither of us leaves those steps

I dreamt of a different life
I said
She just nods and continues to hum
But reality is beyond me
I cry
she gives me a tissue, and a piece if gum

Dry your eyes, pretty girl
she said
Don't think for a moment
That you're already done
This is a life, for you and me,
I Love You Mum

She hummed a tune
that I could voice
We sang a song
and in the night rejoiced

It was the lyrics
that chased away all sorrow
we shared a choice
to look to tomorrow
The lyrics are a mystery, just as yesterday is history :)
